Attempting to follow up the successes of an unbeaten 2017/18 season looked a challenge for the 4th XI, however this did not phase the boys and the 18/19 season has been the most successful in their history. Having only been promoted into BUCS Midlands 2A last season, the 4th XI came 2nd in what was, on paper, a very challenging league. This has ensured that the team will once again compete at the highest level of any 4th XI in the county in the new BUCS leagues for 19/20.

On the weekend, the 4th XI won the T3 North East Premier league, meaning that they will be promoted to the T2 East midlands 1 for the 19/20 season, against a majority of 1st and 2nd XIs. The aim is undoubtedly to win this league and gain back to back promotions.

The highlight of the 18/19 season for the 4th XI was without doubt winning the Adult Men’s T3 National Championships at Lee Valley Hockey Centre. This is something the team will attempt to replicate this season.

Off the pitch, the 4th XI are well known for being a very large part of the social side of the club, being ever present on the weekly socials. This helps to ensure there is a strong friendship throughout the team and contributes to the great results on the pitch.
