2017/18 showed in part that 2XI are really able to compete with even some of the best 1XI in the country having finished 3rd in the BUCS North B league, the highest level at which a 2XI is able to compete.

With the restructuring of the Midlands weekend hockey league the 2XI team will be competing in the Midlands Two league against a mixture of 1st and 2nd XIs. The side are hoping to progress quickly and follow the trend of the 1st XI and by winning promotion into the National League system in the next few years.

Although performance team, with a number of pitch session, and Strength and Conditioning sessions in the state of the art performance zone in the David Ross Sports Village, the side are also a large influence in the social side of the club, and this has been beneficial to the squad both on and off the pitch, and has been pivotal reason for the team being one of the top 2nd XI university’s in the country.
