The 2017/18 season for the 1st XI has seen the team play some excellent hockey and achieve some club firsts. Not only being the first UoNHC side to play in the national league but also the first to win the North Conference League and secure a place in the playoffs. These great achievements could not have been possible without a very talented squad of players and the huge efforts put in by both Matt Taylor and Jamie Cachia throughout the year.
The aim for the season ahead is to keep developing as a squad and to win the BUCS North Prem title having unfortunately not being able to retain the title this season, having previously won it in 2016/17 season. The side is also hoping to top the North Conference for a second year in a row and build upon this seasons playoff result.
The performance side of the programme is crucial in the team achieving their goals, however a huge amount of the success can be accredited to the strong chemistry within the team. This is created through weekly socials which allow player to perform to the best of their abilities both on and off the pitch. Preseason starts on the 3rd September for the 1st XI so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any of the committee if you feel like you should be attending.
